'Scroll Study'

'Scroll Study' (Collage and Acrylic) - The background of this private commission is comprised of copies of music, poetry and literary works from the patrons' home country of Bulgaria. The fiddle scroll itself contains a variety of textured papers and acrylic paint.

Stallings Island Revisited: RESIDENT

Another collage for the Stallings Island Series which will be exhibited at The Gertrude Herbert Institute of Art February 16th - 27th. (See the Oct. 11, 2014 post for more information on the series) This piece is entitled 'RESIDENT' and depicts what I imagine the Stallings Island People may have looked like. The collage portrait is made entirely from paper. Some of the paper is purchased but much of it has been hand tinted and textured.

Stallings Island Revisited: REMNANTS

Another collage created for the Stallings Island Series (see Oct. 11, 2014 post for more information about this series). This piece, entitled 'REMNANTS' includes faux pottery shards, bark from Stallings Island, twigs, feathers and paper. The paper with writing is from a research paper my son (now 39) did on the subject of Stallings Island when he was a senior in high school.
