These 12"x12" collage pieces were created using newsprint from an Irish-Gaelic newspaper…specifically an article about 'Young Writers' or 'Scríbhneoirí Óga'. The three collage paintings also include hand tinted/textured paper and pencil shavings…which in times past were clear evidence that a young writer had been busy!
My name is Lillie Morris...and I love to paint. I began my serious pursuit of art in the early 70's at Augusta State University studying with Nathan Bindler, Freeman Schoolcraft and Richard Frank. I began working primarily in watercolor and over time explored the worlds of acrylics and oils.
In recent years I've found my creative interest evolving and drawn to oils, acrylics, and mixed media collage. Despite their distinct differences I find great satisfaction working in all three. I have separate spaces in my studio for my collage work and my works in oil and acrylic and I maintain two art-blogs: 'Lillie Morris' for my oils and acrylics & 'Lillie Morris Collage' for my mixed media pieces.
Another interest of mine is Ireland and traditional Irish music. You often see references to Ireland on my blogs and the influence of Ireland and it's music can often be seen in my work, particularly my collages.
